Q: What are the years served as a member of the council?


A: 2016-2019


Q: How did you hear about the ASME PD CC council and why did you apply? 


A: The ASME faculty advisor at my school sent an email to all active students in ASME encouraging us to apply. 


Q: What did you like the most during the first meeting of ASME PD CC?


A: I have enjoyed the presentations by oil and gas industry experts and the tours of oil and gas facilities. It is amazing to see the advanced technology being developed in the industry.


Q: What was your contribution for the council project? 
 

A: My first year I worked on a team to design a project that could be used as a senior design project at different universities to promote the oil and gas industry. My 2nd year, I worked on a team whose mission was to write an article promoting the council in an ASME magazine and developed a flyer used to promote the council at universities. I am currently serving as the Student Director working with all the teams and our mentors to develop and execute this year's projects.
 

Q: Describe your experience as a member of the council
 

A: The technical knowledge gained from visiting oil and gas facilities and presentations from industry experts is invaluable. The program also allows members to network with students who share the same passion for the industry. Overall, the experience has been excellent.


Q: Who do you think can apply to the ASME PD CC?


A: Any students who has an interest in the oil and gas industry. I applied as a freshman with no work experience in the industry. The most important thing is to be interested in learning.

Q: What are the years served as a member of the council?


A: 2016-2019


Q: How did you hear about the ASME PD CC council and why did you apply? 

A: I heard about it through a former member who had recently graduated from my university, and believed it would allow me to learn more about a vast industry.

Q: What did you like the most during the first meeting of ASME PD CC?
 

A: The interviews panel discussions provided valuable insight to various aspects of the industry, and allowed us to ask the professionals to explain in-depth the aspects we found most interesting/important.


Q: What was your contribution for the council project? 


A: My team and I are working to contact various school chapter's advisors/presidents in order to better be able to communicate with them in the future.


Q: Describe your experience as a member of the council


A: My membership on the council has been both the most enjoyable and most educational out of all the groups and societies I have participated in, and has allowed me to meet and work with some truly talented and driven individuals from across the globe. My only regret is that I didn't apply my freshman year!

Q: How did your experience with the CC affect your network, student life and professional career?
 

A: It has led me to be more knowledgeable and engaged in a field I was previously quite ignorant of, and has allowed me to have more in-depth conversations with recruiters about their company's services during my job search.


Q: Who do you think can apply to the ASME PD CC?
 

A: All current graduate and undergraduate students with an ASME membership or an interest in the petroleum field.

Q: How did you hear about the ASME PD CC council and why did you apply? 


A:  The department chair forwarded the council's email to the department's students and my professor encouraged me to apply.


Q: What did you like the most during the first meeting of ASME PD CC?


A: I enjoyed listening and talking to the guest speakers. Also, the tour at TechnipFMC was fantastic


Q: What was your contribution for the council project? 
 

A: I am part of the group in charge updating the council's database. I am also working on CC's website

Q: Describe your experience as a member of the council
 

A: It was a great opportunity to be part of this Council. The knowledge and experience learnt there are marvelous. I had a chance to expand my network and the mentors taught us a lot about the transition from student life to professional life.

Q: How did your experience with the CC affect your network, student life and professional career?

A: We met a great number of Engineers working in the petroleum field and the council has a diversity of student coming for different Universities. My network was definitely expanded.

A:Any student interested in Oil and Gas industry, and seeking to prepare his transition to professional life

Q: Do you have any comment you would like to add about the ASME PD CC?

 

A: I have learnt and enjoyed a lot as a member and encourage anyone interested to apply. It is a great opportunity!

Q: How did you hear about the ASME PD CC council and why did you apply? 


A: I heard about the collegiate council from my advisor at school. I have always enjoyed the oil and gas industry, and I saw this as an opportunity to increase my knowledge and connections.


Q: What did you like the most during the first meeting of ASME PD CC?


A: I liked all of it. The food, accommodations, and especially meeting with professionals and the tour of TechnipFMC.


Q: What was your contribution for the council project? 
 

A: I am in control of the website and I am also contributing to the presentation for headquarters.

Q: Describe your experience as a member of the council
 

A: It has been an experience of a lifetime. My knowledge of not only the industry but also the interactions I should be having with professionals has grown tremendously. Obtaining a job for a petroleum company is vastly different than any other industry. It is more high paced yet requires the utmost attention to detail.

Q: How did your experience with the CC affect your network, student life and professional career?

A: My network has grown tremendously. I have found a new motivation to achieve a higher academic performance. Professionally, I have had contact with multiple petroleum companies speaking of how I can get an internship or job.

A: Anyone interested in the petroleum industry and wants to further the outreach of the collegiate council.

A: Undergraduate Support Associate UNL


Q: What did you like the most during the first meeting of ASME PD CC?


A: It was a great experience overall. Panels were very informative.


Q: What was your contribution for the council project? 
 

A: I am part of the database update. I provided the information of ASME department in Nebraska. Updating the old database is ongoing with some schools hard to reach.

I am also part of the model project in which I provided information needed for the Q&A of our umbilical cable interface. (View Models, and Database in google folder)

Q: Describe your experience as a member of the council
 

A: Great experience overall. informative, networking. We were treated very well for the entirety of the trip so that made the whole process memorable and enjoyable.

Q: How did your experience with the CC affect your network, student life and professional career?

A: I met a variety of students from various parts of the world, expending my network. I had the chance to improve my teamwork skills as it is not easy to coordinate group project from distance


Q: Who do you think can apply to the ASME PD CC?


A: If you are up for a challenge, and at the same interested in networking, you should definitely apply. An interest for the new technologies and problems in the oil and gas industry is a good reason to apply as you will learn a lot there.

Q: How did you hear about the ASME PD CC council and why did you apply? 
 

A: A previous member of the council recommended to me that I look into it, and it turned out to be a great fit!

Q: What did you like the most during the first meeting of ASME PD CC?

A: The panel in which the council members were able to listen to and interact with professionals from various aspects of the industry was great. It really gave us a view at different areas within the industry.

Q: What was your contribution for the council project? 


A: So far, my contribution is a supporting role for the umbilical project. Doing what my team needs. Right now, that includes helping write questions and answers for our display.


Q: Describe your experience as a member of the council


A: So far it has been a great resource to help learn about the industry, as well as an opportunity to get out there and see things first hand.

Q: How did your experience with the CC affect your network, student life and professional career?
 

A: I was able to meet many professionals and students who will become professionals. There were also plenty of opportunities to speak with all of them. As a student, it gave me more insight into the industry and helped me learn a lot.

A: Any student who values learning more about the real-world industry, as well as networking.

Q: How did you hear about the ASME PD CC council and why did you apply? 


A: Facebook, I applied because I thought it would be a great opportunity to learn more about opportunities and a mechanical engineer can have in the petroleum industry. 


Q: What did you like the most during the first meeting of ASME PD CC?


A: I enjoyed the program. Everyone that was scheduled was appropriate and beneficial to the career of the collegiate members.

A: Promotion Team -Executing ideas and Finalizing products

Q: Describe your experience as a member of the council
 

A: My experience was great! I had the opportunity to go to FMC Technip to converse with engineers in the industry. I was also able to glean and learn from other seasoned engineers in the industry as well.

A: After my experience, I was able to determine there were plenty of opportunities for a mechanical engineer. Furthermore, I was able to sharpen my skills needed for interviews and networking

A: Anyone interested in gaining more information about the Petroleum Industry

Q: Do you have any comment you would like to add about the ASME PD CC?

 

A: The organizers and lead participants of the program were patient and helpful in guiding the council in the correct way to finding information needed to jump start their careers and be ahead of other students seeking opportunities in the same industry.

Q: What are the years served as a member of the council?


A: 2018-2019


Q: How did you hear about the ASME PD CC council and why did you apply? 


A: I applied because of Idalia, ex-member of ASME PD CC, told me about this. I decided to apply to network with other mechanical engineering students and learn more about the petroleum industry.


Q: What did you like the most during the first meeting of ASME PD CC?


A: I like how other engineers volunteer their time to come and talk with us, just to give us an idea of what they are doing and what to expect. We learn about their experience and become more prepared in the future.


Q: What was your contribution for the council project? 

A: I came up with an idea to make an education program and wrote a Python code to make a small quiz so that other people can learn and test what they just learn about umbilicals. 

Q: Describe your experience as a member of the council
 

A: My team is the model team and they are wonderful people who share the same idea and mindset with them. They are fun to play and willing to work as well.

Q: How did your experience with the CC affect your network, student life and professional career?

A: My network becomes wider. And I get to know more people in Canada, the U.S., and even Mexico.
